Gorakhpur: Five more children succumbed to
Japanese encephalitis in Gorakhpur, raising the number of
fatalities from the illness in the eastern district of Uttar
Pradesh to 550 since January this year.
All the fresh deaths occurred in the past two days, L P
Rawat, Additional Director (Health), said here today.
Nineteen more people, afflicted with the disease, were
admitted to hospitals in Gorakhpur and Basti, he said adding
the number of fatalities since the advent of the year stood at
550.
