Allahabad: Huge quantity of explosives were
seized from a remote part of the district today and three
persons arrested in this connection, even as police ruled out
the possibility of the consignment being linked to any
subversive activity.

The explosives, including 150 kilogram of ammonium
nitrate, 95 detonators and 250 metres of fuse wire, which were
seized in Shankargarh police station area, 25 kms from here,
police said.

The explosives were being brought in a jeep from Madhya
Pradesh and three occupants of the vehicle, all of them local
residents were arrested, police added.

However, police asserted that investigations so far do
not point in the direction of explosives being used for any
subversive activity and that Shankargarh, where stone chips is
a thriving business, has been witness to unauthorised trading
of such material.
