New Delhi/Noida: After weeks of deliberations and deadlock, the Noida Extension land acquisition row was resolved on Saturday with an agreement between Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority and farmers of Patwari village.
As per the agreement the compensation for the Patwari farmers has been raised from Rs 850 to Rs 1400 per square kilometre.
Further, a total of 8 percent of the developed land will be handed over to the farmers against the 5 percent that was being given earlier, as per the compromise formula.
The builders will now be able to construct extra flats.
The news came as a ray of hope for 20,000 odd Noida extension flat buyers.
Builders also gave the investors good news by announcing that they will not put additional burden on the buyers.
As part of the deal on land compensation and other issues, Patwari farmers will move the court to withdraw the court case.
Today`s negotiations with farmers were held in the presence of UP Minister Jaiveer Singh and Greater Noida Chairman Mohinder Singh.
Land acquisition in Patwari was quashed by the Allahabad High Court on July 26. The court, after a review petition had referred the cases to larger bench as interests of several stakeholders were involved.
However, the court had allowed authorities to negotiate with farmers and reach an out-of-court settlement by August 12.
This agreement is in gross deviation from the earlier stand of the government in which they had out rightly rejected any increase in the compensation and had also denied giving more developed land to the farmers.
Earlier, with farmers on warpath over greater compensation for their acquired land, Noida Chairman Balwinder Kumar had said it was "practically not possible" to meet the key demand.
Regarding abadi land(farmers` settlement), GNIDA agreed to leave the abadi as they exist today out of land acquisition and no back lease need to be done for this, he added.
Further, under the agreement, 10 percent seats for farmers` children will be reserved in all schools and colleges to be set up on their land.
Village development funds would be increased and more schools set up in villages. Concrete roads, sewer network and other infrastructure would be developed at par with the sectors.
