Amethi: The ongoing conflict within royal family of Congress MP Sanjay Singh here took a fierce turn on Sunday as clashes broke out between supporters of former's son Anant Vikram Singh and police.
According to reports, the supporters of Sanjay Singh's first wife, Garima Singh, did not allow him and his second wife Ameeta to enter the Bhupati Bhawan– the ancestral property of Singhs.
Later, as the mob turned violent and pelted stones, the police resorted to lathicharge to bring the situation under control.
Constable Vijay Mishra (45), who was posted at Amethi police station, died after sustaining a bullet injury in firing by the irate group, said Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP), Munnalal.
Furthermore, DM Amethi, Jagatraj Tripathi said that 18 people involved in the clashes have been arrested.

Police said that the DM and senior officers are at the spot to monitor the situation.
