FIR against police inspector in extortion case

An FIR has been registered against a police inspector at Hazratganj Police Station here for allegedly extorting about Rs 20 lakhs from five youths after threatening to frame them in a criminal case, police said today.

Lucknow: An FIR has been registered against a police inspector at Hazratganj Police Station here for allegedly extorting about Rs 20 lakhs from five youths after threatening to frame them in a criminal case, police said today.
The FIR was registered against inspector Jitendra Kumar, posted as in-charge of Jansath Police Station in Muzaffarnagar as he allegedly picked five youths from a hostel in Ghaziabad`s Shantinagar area on April 21 and kept them in detention for two days, they said.

He allegedly took Rs 20 lakh from them to set them free.

The FIR was registered yesterday after one of the victims met DGP AC Sharma and narrated the entire story.
