FIR against UP DUDA Project Officer, 6 others in housing scam

An FIR has been registered against a Project Officer of Uttar Pradesh District Urban Development Agency (DUDA) and six others after an inquiry into construction and allotment of 90 houses for urban poor revealed an alleged scam to the tune of Rs 1.8 crore.

UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam Limited (UPRNNL) gave the work of construction of the small dwellings for people of BPL category to DUDA.

However, according to the FIR, the then project officer of DUDA, Anju Singh, allegedly allowed the houses to be built on a land of a private builder.

The scam came to the light when the builder started selling the homes.

District Magistrate B Chandra Kala handed over the probe to SDM Rajesh Kumar and after the report alleged an scam into the matter an FIR was registered into the matter, Deputy Superintendent of Police Anil Yadav said.

Under the scheme, 90 houses were supposed to be constructed in Radhey Shyam colony in Jaisingh Pura area of the district, according to the complaint filed by Project Officer, DUDA, Subhashvir Rajput.

It is alleged that Anju Singh connived with two builders and got 90 houses constructed on their land.

During the inquiry by SDM it was found that the receipts were issued by employees appointed on daily wages basis, by the then Project officer DUDA Mathura.
