Greater Noida: Five liquor smugglers were
arrested from two different places in Gautam Budh Nagar and
over 1,500 bottles of liquor seized from them, police said
on Friday.
Two liquor smugglers were arrested from Greater Noida and
three from Rabupura area last night, Superintendent of Police
Atul Saxena told reporters.
A total of 1,500 smuggled bottles of liquor bottles were
recovered from them, he said.
"The supply was meant to be delivered to panchayat
election aspiring candidates in Bulandshahr and Gautam Budh
Nagar districts," Saxena said.
Panchayat elections are scheduled to be held in October.
The accused told police that they had bought liquor from
Haryana as it was quite cheap there, he said.
