Flood damages crucial Highway, affects lakhs in Bijnor dist

Delhi-Dehradun National Highway was damaged at several places due to floods in river Ganga leading to disruption of traffic.

Muzaffarnagar: Delhi-Dehradun National Highway was damaged at several places due to floods in river Ganga leading to disruption of traffic, official sources said on Saturday.

The stretch of the Highway passing through Purkazi, Faloda and Bhuheri villages in the district was badly damaged, they said.
Meanwhile, 88 villages were affected by the floods that has hit the lives of 82,230 people in Bijnor district of western Uttar Pradesh. District Magistrate A V Raj Mauli said 24,600 people from the severely affected villages have been evacuated and kept in relief camps.=

The administration has set up 10 flood relief camps at present. Earlier, Chief Minister Mayawati had also inspected the relief work being done in the district.
