Foodgrain scam: HC issues directive to probe agencies

The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday directed various investigation agencies, including the CBI, to produce action taken reports pertaining to alleged foodgrain scam in Uttar Pradesh on July 23 next.

Lucknow: The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday
directed various investigation agencies, including the CBI, to
produce action taken reports pertaining to alleged foodgrain
scam in Uttar Pradesh on July 23 next.

The Lucknow Bench of the Court passed the order on a
PIL which sought probe into the alleged scam.

A division bench comprising Justice Devi Prasad Singh
and Justice S C Chaurasia directed various investigation
agencies, including the CBI, to produce action taken reports
by July 23.

Petitioner Vishwanath Chaturvedi had alleged during
2001-2007, foodgrains were sent to Nepal and Bangladesh and
were also sold in black market.

The CBI and state agencies like SIT are probing the
alleged scam.
