Etah: A case has been registered against 17 persons for filing fake certificates while applying for jobs in the government's Anganwadi scheme, police said on Monday.

Bal Vikas Pariyojan Adhikari Ashish Kumar Verma filed an FIR against the 17 candidates after it was found that the certificates and documents filed by them were fake, they said.

The police said that based on the FIR, the case was registered yesterday under various sections of the IPC.

Anganwadi is a government sponsored child-care and mother-care centre in India. It caters to children in the 0-6 age group.

The certificates were found to be fake after an enquiry was ordered by the District Magistrate, they said.

Further investigation in the matter is on, the police said.
