Lucknow: Accusing the BJP of neglecting its loyal and dedicated workers, the party`s former state secretary Shailtanya Srivastava on Thursday alleged that it was promoting sycophancy resulting in slide in its vote bank.
"The BJP has been neglecting its dedicated workers in ticket allotment and also in the local bodies elections it dumped the loyal workers", Srivasatava asserted.
Lashing out at the state unit for claiming that she was expelled from the party last night, Srivasatava who is contesting for the mayor`s post from Allahabad as independent candidate, said that she had already resigned from the party on June 11 by faxing her resignation letter to all the senior leaders as well as the state unit president.
"How can the party expel a worker who has already resigned from the party nine days ago", she asked.
BJP announced on Thursday the expulsion of 54 workers, including Srivasatava, for contesting against authorised candidates of the party in the ongoing urban local body elections.
Srivasatava in her defence said that she had been kept in the dark till the last day of filing of nominations about her candidature.
She said that it was only after she filed her papers she was told that the party has nominated someone else.
She, therefore, went ahead and filed another set of papers as an independent and announced her resignation from the BJP in a press conference in Allahabad, Srivasatva said.
Srivasatva, who has been associated with the BJP for the past 40 years, has held many posts in the party including president of the state`s women wing.
