Former BSP MLA arrested at airport

Lucknow: A former BSP MLA, who was wanted in
connection with a number of cases, including attempt to murder
and loot, was on Tuesday arrested from the airport area here,
police said.

Jitendra Singh Babloo, who had recently joined the Peace
Party after being expelled from the BSP and disqualified from
Assembly membership, was arrested at Amausi airport area, they
said.

The cases against Babloo were lodged by businessman
Mahesh Srivastav, who had alleged that the then legislator was
trying to grab his office at Saushil Complex in Hazratganj
area, police said.

Babloo along with his associates had allegedly tried to
kill Srivastava, who had lodged an FIR against him for looting
his office.

Babloo was in the news in a case related to arson in the
house of Congress state president Rita Bahuguna Joshi in July
2009 after which he was awarded the status of Minister of
State.
