Former village head shot dead, brother injured in UP

A former village head was shot dead and his brother injured when a BJP leader and four others allegedly opened fire at them in Bhogaon area, police said on Sunday.

Mainpuri (UP): A former village head was shot dead and his brother injured when a BJP leader and four others allegedly opened fire at them in Bhogaon area, police said on Sunday.

Malpur Tota Ram (41) and his brother Balbeer Singh were shot at in the village yesterday allegedly by BJP leader Abhilakh Singh, his sons Vinai and Ajai and two others due to some old enmity, they said.

While Tota Ram died on the spot his brother was rushed to a hospital, where his condition is stated to be critical.

An FIR has been registered against five persons including Abhilakh and his two sons, police said, adding that no arrests have have been made so far in this connection.

Superintendent of Police Shrikant said that efforts are on to arrest the accused.
