Four killed in rain-related incidents

Lucknow: At least four persons were killed
in rain-related incidents of wall collapse and drowning with
rivers Ghagra and Sharda continuing to flow above the danger
mark due to heavy showers in major parts of Uttar Pradesh.

While two children died due to a wall collapse in
Ambedkar Nagar, one died in a similar incident in Jaunpur.
Also, a child drowned in Bahraich, police said here.

According to a report of Central Water Commission,
majors rivers including Ghagra, Ganga, Rapti and Sharda are
on the rise.

The Ganga is rising in Ankinghat, Kanpur and Dalmau
(Raebareli), while Sharda was above the red-mark in
Palliakalan in Lakhimpur district.

Ghagra was flowing above danger mark at Elgin Bridge
(Barabanki) and Ayodhya (Faizabad).

The migration of villagers from low-lying areas
continue in Lakhimpur, Barabanki, Gonda and Bahraich where
water had entered villages.

The government has deployed PAC for relief and rescue
operations for those stranded in flooded waters.

According to MeT officer, a rainfall of 56.2 mm was
recorded in Kalagarh (Bijnor), 47.8 mm was received in Chatnag
(Allahabad) and 42.4 mm Turtipar (Ballia).
