Gadkari slams Cong over corruption, price rise
BJP President Nitin Gadkari said the country would get relief only when the party heading the ruling coalition at the Centre is defeated in polls.
Mahabubnagar: Hitting out at the
Congress over rampant corruption, price rise and also the
Telangana issue, BJP President Nitin Gadkari on Thursday said the
country would get relief only when the party heading the
ruling coalition at the Centre is defeated in polls.
"Congress leaders are looting the country. End
Congress rule and you will get relief. Separate Telangana
(state) will also be formed. Price rise, unemployment,
corruption are all because of the wrong economic policies and
misrule of Congress," Gadkari said.
He cited the examples of 2G and CWG scams among others
to highlight the alleged corruption during the Congress rule.
The BJP president was addressing a public meeting
organised at Maktal in Mahabubnagar district on the occasion
of Andhra Pradesh BJP President G Kishan Reddy kick-starting a
`yatra` in support of the separate Telangana demand.
Accusing the Congress of betraying the people of
Telangana over formation of separate state, Gadkari said the
BJP would create the new state if it came to power in the next
"(Home Minister) Chidambaram announced (in 2009) that
Telangana will be formed. But Congress, Sonia Gandhi and Prime
Minister Manmohan Singh betrayed the people. They announced
that Telangana will be formed but went back on their word."
He reiterated his party`s full support if the Centre
introduced a bill for formation of separate Telangana in the
upcoming session of Parliament.
The BJP-led NDA Government, headed by Atal Bihari
Vajpayee, had created three new states -- Uttarakhand,
Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh, he pointed out.
Gadkari expressed confidence that BJP would come to
power at the Centre in the next Lok Sabha polls.
