Kanpur: River Ganga crossed the danger mark
here, inundating at least 11 villages and displacing over 500
families in the district, an official said on Thursday.
"The water level of Ganga touched 115.35 metres at the
Ganga Barrage, crossing the danger mark of 113 metres," SDM
(City) Saumya Aggarwal said.
Around 500 families of 11 nearby villages have been
shifted to safer places so far, she said.
Villagers have been advised to remain alert and
immediately shift to nearby relief camps in case of any
emergency, Aggarwal said, adding the district administration
was constantly monitoring the situation.
She said that all necessary arrangements have been made
by the administration for rescue and relief works.
