Lakhimpur Kheri: A 15-year-old girl was set ablaze in this Uttar Pradesh town by a youth for resisting his advances, police said Thursday. While the girl is battling for her life, her attacker is yet to be arrested.

The girl, a resident of Chandrapura village, was attacked in her home by Angad, 20, also a native of the same village.

Though the incident took place late Feb 14, police officials claim they came to know about it Thursday after the victim`s father approached them.

"According to the girl`s father, Angad tried to molest his daughter while she was alone in the house and later escaped after setting her ablaze," police inspector Mahendra Pratap told reporters in Lakhimpur, some 200 km from Lucknow.
