Graft in Maya`s project: 2 UPPCL officers suspended
Two officials of UP Project Corporation Limited were suspended for allegedly duping a contractor of former chief minister Mayawati`s dream project.
Lucknow: Two officials of Uttar Pradesh Project Corporation Limited were on Sunday suspended for allegedly duping a contractor of former chief minister Mayawati`s dream project.
On the directives of PWD Minister Shivpal Singh Yadav, UPPCL managing director Abrar Ahmad suspended the two officers for alleged irregularities in Bhimrao Ambedkar Gomti park in Gomti Nagar.
Project director Kripa Shanker Pandey and junior engineer Ashok Kumar Singh were placed under suspension with immediate effect and an inquiry was ordered against them, an official spokesman said here.
The action was taken after irregularities were detected in works carried out in Gomti parks constructed on both sides on Gandhi Setu on the left bank of Gomti river.
Directives have also been issued to terminate service of Anil Kumar Verma, who was associated with the work, with immediate effect.
Yesterday, an FIR was lodged against four persons including an assistant engineer, the project manager and two junior engineers of UPPCL for allegedly duping a contractor, who was allotted work in former Chief Minister Mayawati`s dream project.
Padmnabham Manglam Kumar Singh, proprietor of Samay Enterprises, had alleged in his complaint that he was awarded contract of earth work of Rs 69 lakhs but was paid only Rs 43 lakhs while the rest amount was taken by project manager Pandey.
He alleged that assistant engineer A K Maheshwari and junior engineers Ashok Kumar Singh and Anil Kumar Verma told him they could not make payment without directions of Pandey.
