Heavy rains lash UP, 2 dead

Two persons died after they were struck by lightning in Uttar Pradesh even as Sharda and Ghagra rivers continued to flow above the danger mark with heavy rains lashing the state on Tuesday.

While a 42-year-old woman died after lightning struck her
in Unnao, a similar incident killed a man in Pratapgarh
yesterday, officials said.

Meanwhile, Sharda river is flowing above danger level in
Palliakalan (Kheri) and Ghagra is flowing above the red mark
in Elgin Bridge (Barabanki) and Ayodhya, Central Water
Commission officials said.

Ganga is rising in Fatehgarh, Phaphaamau and Chatnag in
Allahabad, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Ghazipur and Ballia, while
Yamuna is rising in Mohna, Agra, Hamirpur, Banda and Allahabad
and Gomti is rising in Jaunpur and Sultanpur, they said.

Heavy rainfall accompanied by thundershowers lashed many
places in the state.

While Narora recorded 9 cm rainfall, Salempur, Bara and
Rasolabad recorded 4 cm each.
