Kanpur: On the concluding day of the BJP's 'Dhamma Chetana Yatra', BSP workers put up hoardings "opposing" the Dalit outreach programme of the saffron party even as some posters with photos of BJP chief Amit Shah were blackened here, police said.

The BSP workers also allegedly tried to block the passage of a train but did not succeed, they added.

Shah was in Kanpur to address the concluding session of the 'yatra' which had begun from Sarnath on April 24. BJP workers had put up hoardings and posters welcoming the party president as well as the Buddhist monks taking part in the 'yatra' at various parts of the town.

After Shah's arrival in town, some unidentified people blackened the posters with his photo at the Chakeri area, police said.

Meanwhile, BSP leader Anubhav Chak put up a hoarding at the Coca Cola crossing, questioning the "motive" behind the 'yatra' and Shah's visit to Kanpur.

Led by Chak, BSP workers allegedly attempted to block the passage of the train at the Coca Cola crossing but it was thwarted by the police.

Some BSP workers also allegedly tried to storm into the venue of the concluding session of the 'yatra' but did not succeed due to opposition from the police as well as BJP supporters.
