The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Hyderabad Police had come looking for suspected SIMI activist Manjar Imamuddin in Ranchi on July 14.

Manjar Imamuddin in Ranchi on July 14, a top Jharkhand Home
department official confirmed here on Friday.

"As per our information, the ATS from Hyderabad had come
(to locate Manjar)," Jharkhand Home Secretary JB Tubid said
amidst a section of media reporting that the National
Investigation Agency came for Manjar at his Bariatu residence
here.

He, however, did not elaborate about it saying the ATS
was an independent agency and they sought local police help on
local geography and language.

Jharkhand Director General of Police GS Rath said the
state police did not know the whereabouts of Manjar amidst
conflicting media reports on his possible locations.

A police official in the special branch had on July 14
said the Hyderabad-based ATS came in search for Manjar in
connection with the serial bomb blasts in Ahmedabad.

The ATS team’s visit that day assumed significance as it
came a day after the Mumbai bomb blast.
