New Delhi: Following the allegations levelled by an IPS officer against Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, the Congress party on Saturday said the governance in Uttar Pradesh is collapsing all around.
"The governance in Uttar Pradesh is collapsing all around. The Congress party demands that the Akhilesh Yadav Government ensures not only security to all the government servants but an environment that ensures that they can do their job with honesty and integrity," party spokesperson Ajoy Kumar told the media here.
"Based on the reports coming in from Uttar Pradesh, it appears that the Government has been continuously threatening the officers with the unjust request," he added. The Congress party`s reaction came after IPS officer Amitabh Thakur alleged that Mulayam had threatened him over the phone, asking him to `mend his ways`.
"At around 4.45 pm, a phone came from Mulayam Singh`s residence and he talked to me. He told me that whatever had happened in Jasrana, Firozabad, where I had been assaulted by one of his relative and an MLA in 2006, much harsher things will happen to me if I don`t `mend my ways`," Thakur told ANI here.
The IPS officer said he was worried about his safety and will seek security.
