Lucknow: Union Coal Minister Sri Prakash
Jaiswal today said he was ready to meet Uttar Pradesh Chief
Minister Mayawati for getting her clearance for setting up two
coal-based power plants in Kanpur.
The plants are proposed to be set up at Bilhaur and
Ghatampur in Kanpur, Jaiswal`s Parliamentary constituency, by
NTPC and Neyveli Lignite Corporation.
"I have already written a letter to the CM for getting
due clearance for the plants. I can meet her for getting a go
ahead for the projects," Jaiswal told reporters here.
"The state government should not delay setting up of
the two plants especially when Uttar Pradesh is facing acute
power shortage," he said.
Local authorities had sent proposals relating to land
for the projects to the state government three-four months ago
but it was yet to take any action, Jaiswal said.
