Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Lokayukta NK Mehrotra has taken a serious note of the presence of names of
28 family members of Minister for Science and Technology
Abdul Mannan and his MLC brother in the voters` list of two
assembly constituencies of Hardoi district.
The report from the District Magistrate of Hardoi
confirms that the names of about 28 family members of Abdul
Mannan and his MLC brother Abdul Hannan were included in the
voters` list of two Vidhan Sabha constituencies, Sandila and
Balamau, Mahrotra said today.
The Lokayukta who is probing allegations of land
grabbing, amassing disproportionate wealth and getting the
names of his family members included in the voters` lists of
more than one constituency said that he is contemplating what
action is needed to be taken in this connection.
The complaint has been filed by Anurag Tripathi, a
resident of Sandila, who has accused the minister and his
brother of acquiring real estate properties worth crores of
rupees in Hardoi, Lucknow, Ghaziabad and Bareilly.
The Lokayukta said that these 28 names were also in the
voters` lists of three gram panchayats.
Mahrotra said that the both the DM and the minister have
submitted identical replies on the issue which indicated that
there is an attempt to keep the facts hidden.
They have said that since there was still some time left
for the assembly elections, the mistake would be rectified but
the question is why it had not been done so far, he added.
