‘Lucknow made city of stones by Mayawati’

A list of women candidates has been prepared for upcoming assembly elections and the party would take a final decision on it.

Lucknow: Slamming UP Chief Minister Mayawati for using public money to erect statues, All India Mahila Congress chief Anita Verma on Thursday, accused her of turning Lucknow into a "city of stones".

Addressing presidents of district and city units of Congress` women wing here, Verma said, that the massive stone structures installed by the Chief Minister in the name of beautification have made Lucknow "a city of Nawabs into a city of stones".

She exhorted partymen to work not for getting posts but for strengthening the organisation.

She also recalled the contribution of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi in women empowerment.

Verma said, that a list of women candidates has been prepared for upcoming assembly elections and the party high command would take a final decision on it.
