Mahavir Prasad cremated

The mortal remains of veteran Congress leader Mahavir Prasad were consigned to flames.

Gorakhpur (UP): The mortal remains of veteran Congress leader and former Haryana Governor Mahavir Prasad, who died on Sunday, were consigned to flames on Tuesday on the banks of river Saryu in the district.

His younger brother Prabhu Nath Prasad lit the pyre.
Union minister Sri Prakash Jaiswal, Congress leader Jaidev Jena, UPCC chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi were among those present during the funeral.

Prasad, 71, breathed his last on Sunday at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi, after prolonged illness.
He is survived by wife and two daughters.
