Coimbatore: Alleging foul play behind the death of his grandson at a school in Lucknow, an octogenarian has urged the District Collector to get all the facts and to make arrangements to conduct an enquiry into it.

Vishwanathan, who hails from Vettakarapudur village in the district, said the school management had on April 10 informed the family that Rahul Sridhar, a ninth standard student of La Martiniere College, had committed suicide by jumping off the top floor of the school building.

However no FIR had been registered in this connection and the family suspected foul play behind his death, he said.

Vishwanathan, who is a tailor, in his memorandum to Coimbatore District Collector Archana Patnaik, requested to take steps to get the details behind the death and also to hold a proper inquiry.

Police in Lucknow had said that Rahul was declared brought dead at a hospital in the city after he was seriously injured as he fell down from the first floor of the school building on April 10.

They had also said a probe has been initiated to ascertain whether the boy had committed suicide or not.
