Sonebhadra (UP): A man was arrested and
firearms in large quantities recovered from his possession at
the Telguda crossing near Sonebhadra, police said.
On a tip off, a police team arrested Santosh Kumar Yadav
of Gadhwa district of Jharkhand yesterday, Superintendent of
Police Mohit Agarwal said.
A stengun, 10 revolvers, one country-made revolver, two
magazines and 14 cartridges were recovered from his
possession, the SP said.
On interrogation, Yadav told the police that he was asked
to take the consignment of arms to Varanasi by three persons,
who paid him Rs 2,000.
In view of the coming Assembly polls in UP, a drive is
going on against criminals in Sonebhadra, a naxal-infested
district, which shares its border with Madhya Pradesh,
Chattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar.
