Ballia: A man was allegedly assaulted by some persons in Sikandarpur area near here for seeking information under Right to Information Act regarding development works, police said on Monday.
Babban Mishra was assaulted with sticks and rods by some persons in Rudrawar village yesterday injuring him seriously, they said.
The victim was rushed to the community health centre from where he was referred to the district hospital.
Babban had recently sought information regarding development works done in Rudrawa village panchayat through RTI, which had irked the family members of the village head.
A case has been lodged against four persons and efforts were being made to arrest them, they added.
