With honour killings on the rise, a newly married man has moved the Allahabad High Court seeking protection for his wife who was kidnapped from his house.

Ghaziabad: With honour killings on the
rise, a newly married man has moved the Allahabad High Court
seeking protection for his wife who was kidnapped from his
house allegedly by her family members just a few days after
she married him against their wishes.

In his plea to the court, Ajit Kumar of village Siblu
Gari under Loni police station accused his wife`s family
members of kidnapping her from his house and expressed fears
that she could be killed as they were opposed to the marriage.

The man moved the court after the police protection
provided to him and his family was withdrawn on Friday night.

He has appealed to the court to provide protection to his
wife and facilitate her return to him.

In another case, one upper caste girl who married a Dalit
youth against her family`s wishes has also sought police
protection, alleging that her parents had threatened to
eliminate them.

In yet another case of similar nature, a youth who had
married a local girl of his own caste in Hapur, has demanded
security, citing threat to his life.

SSP Raghubir Lal said he has issued orders to provide
security to all the couples who have expressed apprehensions
that they could be killed by their parents.

He has also directed that no complaint of kidnapping
will be registered in the case of runaway lovers.
