Aligarh (UP): A local businessman has urged
Union Home Minister P Chidambaram to order a probe into his
daughter`s alleged suicide in a Chennai college hostel in May
due to harassment by the college authority.

Vijay Kumar Pachisia, father of the girl Anitra (18), in
his letter to Chidambaram written on Saturday demanded a probe
into the incident on May 27.

In his letter Pachisia cited statement of lady warden of
the hostel and the suicide note left behind by his daughter in
support of his charge of "torture and harassment" against the
chairman of the college which forced her to take the extreme
step.

Narrating the incident, the distraught father quoting the
hostel warden said today that on the evening of May 27, his
daughter, a first year student of a private technology
institute at Kelambakkam near Chennai, was asked by the
chairman to report to his office room which she declined.

Later, one person entered the girls hostel and "forcibly"
took her to the chairman’s room. After more than an hour in
the chairman’s room, Anitra came out weeping inconsolably, he
said quoting the warden. The next morning she was found
hanging from the ceiling fan in her hostel room.

Meanwhile, a report from Chennai quoting police said
that the chairman of the college has obtained conditional bail
from the Madras High Court.

The Kelambakkam police station has registered a case
in this regard and investigations are on.
