Maya criticised for security breach at Rahul rally

Congress sought to turn the tables on UP CM Mayawati over the matter alleging a breach of security of Rahul Gandhi during the rally.

New Delhi: Despite the controversy over the
Phulpur incident involving two Union Ministers refusing to die
down, Congress on Friday sought to turn the tables on U P Chief
Minister Mayawati over the matter alleging a breach of
security of Rahul Gandhi during the rally.

"The biggest question is whether the UP police carried
out their responsiblity properly. How they (intruders) came so
much inside", party spokesman Rashid Alvi told reporters.

He said that this "irresponsible" attitude of the
police and the state government is "a matter of concern in
view of the fact that Gandhi`s family has remained a target of
terrorists. His father and grandmother have sacrificed their
lives".

Alvi`s response came when asked whether the AICC planned
to take action against four party leaders including Union
Ministers Jitin Prasad and RPN Singh for allegedly assaulting
Samajwadi Party workers during Rahul Gandhi`s rally in Phulpur
on Monday.

Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh has already
dubbed as an instance of "Mayawati`s jungleraj" the criminal
case filed by UP police against the four leaders including
Congress legislature party leader in UP Pramod Tiwari and MLC
Naseeb Pathan.

The FIR was lodged on a complaint by Abhishek Yadav, one
of the four SP youth wing supporters who alleged he had been
thrashed by SPG personnel and the Congress leaders at the
venue of Rahul`s rally.

Yadav was arrested along with three other supporters of
Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha when they were running towards Rahul
Gandhi`s helicopter, trying to show him a black flag.
