Lucknow: Besieged by a slew of
allegations of corruption and police high-handedness by
opposition parties, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati
today directed all principal secretaries and secretaries to
take prompt action on the letters sent by district
magistrates.

"The CM issued a directive on being informed about
the outcome of state-level review meeting of the top officials
by Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar Singh and Chief
Secretary Atul Kumar Gupta," an official spokesman said here.

Mayawati has directed that shortcomings and problems
highlighted during her surprise inspections should be sorted
out on a war footing.

She said that to ensure that people get all facilities
in government hospitals, required equipments and machines
should be made available.

Warning the officials that laxity in cleaning and
upkeep of hospitals would not be tolerated, she said that
facilities of lift and ramps should also be ensured.

The chief minister has also ordered for improvement in
sanitation services in nagar palikas and town areas and waste
dumping grounds to be identified.

She said that the tradition of land acquisition under
emergency clause should be done away with in general and the
exercise should be carried out with mutual consent.

She also directed that a board depicting BSP leader
Kanshiram should be installed along with the name of Shahri
Gareeb Awas Yojna in the schemes.
