Maya warns strict action against erring officials

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Friday warned government officials that any laxity in development works and on the law and order front would not be tolerated.

Mayawati asked officials responsible for law and order to take stern action against mafia and anti-social elements and those creating communal disharmony.

The chief minister was informed about the review of the development works and law and order by Cabinet Secretary Shahshank Shekhar Singh and Chief Secretary Anup Misra.

The officials were also asked for giving special attention on the security of courts.

She also directed the senior officials to undertake surprise inspections of ongoing development works so that the quality is maintained. Special directives were issued to ensure peace and order during the coming month of Moharrum.

The chief minister asked the officials to ensure timely availability of fertiliser besides other facilities for sowing of rabi crop and effective operation of paddy purchase centres to achieve the target of 25 lakh metric tonnes.
