Mayawati for speedy completion of projects in backward regions

Mayawati on Saturday set a 10-month time-frame for the completion of unfinished irrigation projects in the backward Bundelkhand and Purvanchal regions of the state saying no laxity on the part of officials would be tolerated.

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Saturday set a 10-month time-frame for the completion of unfinished irrigation projects in the backward Bundelkhand and Purvanchal regions of the state saying no laxity on the part of officials would be tolerated.

Reviewing pending projects of the department here, she warned that stern action would be taken against officials and engineers responsible for any delay in the implementation of these projects.

Noting that some of the projects were lying incomplete because of very minor works still left to be done, she said their benefits were not reaching the farmers despite massive funds being spent over them.
Reiterating her government`s resolve towards the uplift of farmers of these two regions, she asked the officials to work dedicatedly towards this aim so that the farmers realise that the government was sensitive towards their welfare.
