Lucknow: Accusing Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister
Mayawati of having a feudal mindset, opposition parties on today
alleged that she was spending crores of rupees of public money
for installing statues of her family members.
Taking exception to plans to install statues of her parents
at the `Rashtriya Dalit Prerna Sthal` which she is scheduled
to inaugurate in NOIDA on October 14, they said it reflected
her feudal mindset.
"After statues of dalit icons like Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram
have been set up at several places, Mayawati is out to install
statues of her parents," Congress spokesman Subodh Srivastava
Demanding that she should spell out whether she had any
plans to install statues of other members of her family and
what message she wanted to give to the people through the
statues of her parents, Srivastava said it would have been
different had she used her own wealth for this purpose.
Samajwadi Party spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said that
installing statues of chief minister`s family members using
public money was both "immoral and condemnable".
