Lucknow: Acting swiftly against ‘corrupt’ ministers, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Wednesday sacked Secondary Education Minister Rangnath Misra and Labour Minister Badshah Singh from her Cabinet.
Both the ministers had come under the scanner of state Lokayukta for different reasons.
While the Lokayukta had sought removal of Misra following a probe into disproportionate assets charges against him, Singh had come under the scanner on charges of land grabbing and misuse of office.
Lokayukta Justice N K Mehrotra, in his report sent to Mayawati, said the inquiry found Misra guilty of possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income as well as illegal possession of gram sabha land.
The Lokayukta had also recommended lodging of a case against the minister under the Prevention of Corruption Act and an inquiry either by CBI or Vigilance Department.
Against Mishra, a complaint was registered for allegedly constructing a school on a private land in the name of his father at Kharela and on this pretext included government land in its campus.
Both the ministers have been removed till their names are cleared in a probe.
