A clash broke out between two groups of a community in Alipur village in the district following which one person was arrested, police said.

Meerut: A clash broke out between two groups of a community in Alipur village in the district following which one person was arrested, police said on Wednesday.

The two groups clashed yesterday following a dispute over the conduct of a prayer ceremony, Superintendent of Police, MM Beg, said here.

A case was registered against six persons belonging to one of the groups after which one person was arrested, he said.
The other group has so far not approached the police, the SP said.

Incidents of stone pelting were also reported, following which four persons were hospitalised with minor injuries, he said, adding all of them have now been discharged.
Denying reports of gunfire in the clashes, Beg said that the situation is now stable.
