Ballia: Senior Uttar Pradesh minister Ambika Chaudhary on Sunday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has nominated Akhilesh Yadav for 'Swachh Bharat' campaign as the latter "is an energetic leader with a clean image", but refused to comment whether the Chief Minister would join the drive.
Chaudhary, who was here to attend a health camp in his native village Kapoori, told reporters that "the PM has nominated Akhilesh because he is an energetic leader with a clean image".
"The PM feels that doing so (by nominating Akhilesh) his campaign would be successful," he added.
The minister, however, claimed that it was SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, who was first to take concrete measure towards cleanliness by constructing toilets during his chief ministership.
Asked whether Akhilesh will join the drive, Chaudhary refused to comment.
