Mumbai: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday reportedly refused to comment after being nominated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to carry forward the Clean India drive.

During the two-day visit to Varanasi, Modi had appointed nine people, including the UP CM, to nominate nine other people to carry forward the Clean India campaign.

Apart from Akhilesh, Modi also nominated Jagadguru Rambhadracharya of Chitrakoot Handicapped University, BJP MLA Manoj Tiwari, Manu Sharma, cricketer Mohammad Kaif, Padmashree Prof Devi Prasad Dwivedi, TV comedian Raju Srivastava, cricketer Suresh Raina and singer Kailash Kher.

On Friday, Modi had targeted the Akhilesh Yadav-led Uttar Pradesh government and said that he had sought a land from the state government to set up the Trade Facilitation Centre and the Crafts Museum closer to the city but it did not materialise.
