Monsoon activity picked up in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday with heavy showers lashing parts of the state even as major rivers continued to recede.

"Moderate to heavy rainfall occurred at isolated places
in eastern UP, with a maximum 50 mm rainfall being recorded at
Katerniaghat in Bahraich," the Met department said.

Patti, Birdghat and Amethi received 30 mm each, while
Karwi, Padrauna, Bareilly, Muzaffarnagar and Chillaghat
recorded 20 mm each.
Meanwhile, major rivers of the state continued to recede
and were flowing below the danger mark, according to the
Central water Commission.
