MoS Yadav blames Maya for poor growth of industry

Alleging that UP admin is not cooperating with the Centre in setting up new industries, Arun Yadav today said even after three years two major units in Jagdishpur and Rae Bareli are yet to take off, pending land allotment.

Lucknow: Alleging that UP administration is
not cooperating with the Centre in setting up new industries,
Union Minister of State for Heavy Industries Arun Yadav today
said even after three years two major units in Jagdishpur and
Rae Bareli are yet to take off, pending land allotment.

The minister said three years ago the Centre had cleared
proposals for setting up two large industrial units in the
state involving an investment of over Rs 3,500 crore. But the
Mayawati administration is yet to allot land for the same,
Yadav added.

"A paper mill at an investment of Rs 3,000 crore and
a NATRiP project worth Rs 100 crore were sanctioned in 2007
in Jagdishpur and Rae Bareli respectively, could not be set up
so far as the state has not provided land," Yadav, who was
here to Scooters India, told newsmen.

While around 300 acres are required for the paper mill,
80 acres are needed for NATRiP project for automative testing
and research unit, he said, adding other than these two
projects which could have been finished by now, the Centre
also wants to clear other large projects in the state.

Yadav pointed out that correspondence with the state
has been going on since the past three years but nothing has
emerged out of it. Stressing that lack of support by the state
is a major concern, he said the Centre wants to fully support
the state in setting up industries.

He said the Centre also want to sanction projects in areas
of the state but Mayawati is not cooperating.

Consultants have been appointed for working out a plan
for the sick Scooters India, he said, adding the company needs
an investment of around Rs 600 crore to come out of the red.
The cumulative losses of Scooters India stands at Rs 84 crore
while last year`s losses were Rs 28 crore. It was declared as
a sick unit last year.
