Mulayam's second wife, Shivpal conspiring against Akhilesh, alleges Samajwadi Party MLC

Lucknow: Amid growing power tussle in Uttar Pradesh' ruling Samajwadi Party, a close aide of Akhilesh Yadav has now alleged that party veteran Mulayam Singh's second wife is behind the conspiracy to alienate the young chief minister.

According to the Times of India, the allegations have been made by Samajwadi Party legislator Udayveer Singh, who is considered close to Akhilesh Yadav.

Singh further said that the SP patriarch Mulayam Singh needed to make way for his son.

Singh, who is a member of the legislative council, also attacked state SP chief and Mulayam's brother Shivpal Yadav for being the "political front" of the CM's stepmother.

In a four-page letter, Singh also cautioned Mulayam against the "conspiracies being hatched in his family against his elder son".

The allegations made by the MLC, who was elected from the SP-stronghold of Etah-Mainpuri, points to a major escalation in the ongoing rift within the Yadav clan.

Interestingly, it is also for the first time that a party leader has asked Mulayam to make way for his son and suggested that the conflict in the party is linked to a feud in the Yadav clan involving the CM and his stepmother.

It states that efforts to discredit Akhilesh began after Mulayam proposed his name for the CM's post.

Udayveer Singh also alleged that SP chief is apparently under pressure from the anti-Akhilesh group, which is why he had pulled up the CM several times in full public view.

However, Akhilesh, being an obedient son, never reacted, he claimed.

Claiming that "outsiders" were exploiting the crisis in the SP patriarch's family, Udayveer Singh also sought reinstatement of expelled leaders and full power to Akhilesh to run the party.

However, another SP MLC, Ashu Malik, has hit back, claiming Udayveer's letter was an "unacceptable" insult to party supremo Mulayam Singh.
