Muzaffarnagar: A local court Friday sentenced
a man to seven years rigorous imprisonment for killing his
wife over dowry.

The Additional District Sessions Judge S K Banerjee
convicted and sentenced Niraj Kumar to seven year
rigorous imprisonment, while the court acquitted his father Om
Singh and mother Birmati due to lack of evidence.

According to prosecution, the victim Gita was poisoned to
death by her in-laws and husband over the dowry dispute at
Lank village in the district on May 12, 2008.
