Hundreds of people on Monday paid homage to those killed in last year's communal clashes in Muzaffarnagar, at Jolla village in the district.

Muzaffarnagar: Hundreds of people on Monday paid homage to those killed in last year's communal clashes in Muzaffarnagar, at Jolla village in the district.

Muslims paid homage to the victims of the communal riots at Jolla, Budhana and Palda villages here, Bhartiya Kisan Mazdor Manch district president Hafiz Mohammad Haseen said.

A memorandum expressing concern over not arresting the riots' accused was also submitted to the district magistrate, he said.

District Superintendent of Police (rural) Alok Priyadarshi said security has been tightened in the district and extra police force has been deployed as a precautionary measure.

He said the day passed peacefully in the district.
