Lucknow: Bahujan Samaj Party leader Noor Saleem Rana, arrested for his alleged involvement in inciting communal violence in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining areas was released after he was granted bail on Tuesday.
Rana wason Saturday remanded to 14 days judicial custody by a local court in Muzaffarnagar, after rejecting his interim bail plea.
The BSP MLA was lodged in Mirzapur jail.
While the police arrested BSP MLA Noor Saleem Rana, two other party leaders — Qadir Rana and Jameel Ahmed — against whom arrest warrants were issued by a local court are still roaming free.
The 16 political leaders against whom warrants have been issued also include BSP MP Qadir Rana, BJP legislator Bhartendu Singh, BSP legislator Maulana Jameel, Congress leader Saeeduzaman and Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) chief Naresh Tikait.
