Muzaffarnagar riots: Four accused arrested in Kutba killings

 Four more persons have been arrested in connection with communal killings at Kutba village during the Muzaffarnagar riots last year, police said on Tuesday.

Muzaffarnagar: Four more persons have been arrested in connection with communal killings at Kutba village during the Muzaffarnagar riots last year, police said on Tuesday.

According to Inspector RK Singh, the investigating officer appointed by the SIT, the four accused have been identified as Manoj, Rahul, Narender and Bijender.

The accused have been sent to judicial custody by the Chief Judicial Magistrate here yesterday, he said.

Earlier on December 13, six persons were arrested, while on December 8, an accused Dhiraj Kumar was arrested at Kutba village in connection with the case.

Eight persons, including a woman were killed and 20 others injured during riots in Kutba last year.

Police had registered a case against 110 people in this connection. According to the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which was set up to probe the riots, more than 50 people were allegedly involved in Kutba killings out of which 14 accused have been arrested while the remaining are absconding.

The communal clashes which took place in the district on September last year had claimed more than 60 lives and rendered thousands of people homeless.
