Muzaffarnagar: Two engineers of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation (UPPC) have been sentenced to three months of imprisonment here on charges of contempt of court in two separate cases, official sources said.

Prabhaker Singh, an executive engineer of the Shamli division of UPPC, was found guilty of contempt of court on Wednesday for defying the orders of the District Consumer Redressal Forum (DCRF).

In another case, the DCRF charged the UPCC engineer AK Pandey for the same offence.

The forum Chairman S K Bhat along with two others imposed penalties on the two engineers for neglecting their duties and failing to comply with the orders despite issuance of notices.

The DCRF also directed them to pay the amounts with interest to the complainants Bhula Singh and Liyakat.

Arrest warrants against the convicted engineers have also been issued by the forum.
