Bareilly: A non-bailable warrant was on Wednesday issued against a BSP MLA by a local court here in connection with a five-year-old case of assault.
In June 2007, one Bhajanlal lodged a complaint that BSP MLA from Meerganj, Sultan Beg, had assaulted him when he was on his way to lodge a complaint regarding irregularities in foodgrain distribution, prosecution sources said.
Though a charge sheet has been filed in the case, the BSP MLA failed to appear before the court, they said.
Additional chief judicial magistrate Alpana Saxena issued the non-bailable warrant against the MLA and fixed August 18 as the next date of hearing.
