Noida Extn: HC delays hearing on 2 villages’ land Zeenews Bureau

New Delhi: The Allahabad High Court, Wednesday, postponed its verdict on the legality of land acquisition in two villages of the Greater Noida area popularly known as Noida Extension.

The High Court will announce its verdict on July 26 on the plea of farmers and villagers from Roja Yaqubpur and Bisarakh Jalalpur villages, who went to court against the Noida Authority’s decision to acquire their land.

The court had already cancelled land acquisition in some other villages of Greater Noida in earlier judgements. And tomorrow the HC will hear pleas of farmers from Itheda, Haidarpur and four other villages.

On Tuesday, the High Court had quashed acquisition of nearly 600 hectare of land in Patwari and Dewla villages, falling under Dadri tehsil of Gautambuddh Nagar district.

The verdicts have come as a big jolt to builders and prospective home owners. Several builders have launched their housing projects in affected villages and thousands of people have made bookings in the upcoming dwelling units, some of which are either in various phases of construction or in the drawing board stage.

In total, pleas challenging the acquisition of almost 2,000 acres of land in Greater Noida and surrounding areas, popularly called Noida Extension, have been filed in the HC. It is believed that around 2.5 lakh flats are to be built on the land in question.

Yesterday’s order came barely a fortnight after the Supreme Court had struck down acquisition of 156 hectare of land by the state government in village Shahberi in the area, saying the authorities were “subserving” private builders in the name of public interest.

The apex court had on July 6 upheld the Allahabad HC order which had quashed the land acquisition by the Greater Noida authority under the urgency clause of the Land Acquisition Act and directed that the property be returned to the farmers.

It had also said the builders should return back the money collected towards the sale of flats in the village.

The issues being dealt by the HC include acquisition of farming and other land by the state government without giving farmers and villagers an opportunity to raise their objections and without being offered adequate compensation.

i think this is a height of the loot in india where two political parties are just exploiting the common working man who has invested all his had earned money. up govt has already earned a lot from builders and its now congress who can`t see the opposition enjoying alone and the ultimately middle class investors are in soup. farmers have sold the land by themselves and now only for votes congress is involved in the high court decisions in favor of farmers.

open question : 1. why did the farmers agree to the idea of aquisition even if it was for industrial development or anything. 2. why did they file the petitions only when the development has been seen in the area in terms of world class roads, bridges power supply etc. 3. if the farmers are seeing more money then where does the cost of defelopment factor in. 4. farmers never pay taxes, but the money the homebuyers have put in for the flats is all hard earned and tax paid money! should the court be hearing to these ``handful`` so called farmers(which they are not!) or to the middle class homebuyers who invested in there dreams with the savings of lifetime. 6. i am sure that the farmers didn`t buy the land but grabbed it from generations so it is something they did not work for.... on the other hand are the poor people from middle class society who toiled hard to save money for their dream home.

without causing any hurt to anybody aspiring cozy home/s, it is my hearfelt prayer to god that land acquisition/development activity per se be banned across india, across the globe once for all. if mankind goes on destroying river beds, forests etc, then entire universe will collapse. while dinosaurs lost their homes several thousands of years ago, elephants and even cows are facing this threat today. it is pertinent to record that `lakkarpur`, a place that fed wood for several centuries today does not have a twig. all the monkeys have got killed, wiped off. days are numbered before even mankind faces the same plight due to its own kith and kin. all these are so painful, pathetic that it makes one cry for the losses. mankind should not lavish away natural resources. it should evolve new ways of living. science is so advanced that mankind has all the potentiality of being rulers and every man/woman could be king/queen in his/her own way. man has to evolve new, meaningful, self sustainable ways of living.king.

i think that there is a high level politics has been played to remove mayawati govt from up and congress will made there set up in up and after the election in up these farmers will again become a verdict and there land will be aquised again and these builder will build those flats at that time and will make a large money.
